This is a Taylor 414CE in Natural finish. Made in the USA in 2000, this guitar features a bolt-on construction consisting of a grand auditorium cutaway Ovangkol body with Spruce top, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include an Ebony bridge, Grover tuning machines and pearloid dot inlays. A Taylor Fishman Prefix preamp is fitted and wired to a under saddle piezo pickup.
The Mahogany neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the ‘Standard Carve’ profile that provides ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the neck. The Venetian cutaway allows for easy access to the higher frets. The satin finish to the rear has been polished to a gloss which makes for fluid hand movements across the whole register. The Ebony fingerboard feels luxurious to the touch, and with Taylor’s usual 15” radius providing a flat and consistent surface to navigate on.
The acoustic voice of the Taylor 414ce is bright and clear, with an unpronounced yet accurate low end, strong mid response and sparkling trebles which add a shimmer and chime to every note played on the instrument. Ovangkol produces harmonically rich tones similar to Rosewood. The Grand Auditorium body design delivers the best of both large and compact bodies; sizable enough to produce a powerful and clear voice whilst remaining small enough to be comfortable in the arms. The Spruce top projects beautifully and offers a wide dynamic range, whilst producing a warmer & more refined tone than a typical un-aged Spruce top. The Fishman Prefix faithfully conveys the acoustic voice of the instrument, providing the versatility required for both live and recording situations.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates some finish delamination near the nut revealing the wood beneath. The top edges and corners demonstrate light to moderate indentations, piercing the finish slightly. Circular scratching can be seen around the low E tuning post.
Neck: Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck has buffed from satin to high gloss. The rear of the neck demonstrates light indentation in the early register to the treble side of the profile, difficult to discern beneath the thumb. The fingerboard demonstrates moderate playwear in the early register, visible only under close inspection.
Body: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates moderate indentations piercing the finish slightly. This is most consistent to the center of the lower bout but can be identified throughout. High traffic areas of the sides and rear face, such as the treble side waist and bass side lower bout, have buffed from satin to gloss through regular use. All aspects demonstrate light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate notable signs of use in the early register, with notable indentation not affecting the note clarity. There is a small amount of fret material remaining for future fret work.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (¼” socket) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of use.
Structural: The bridge is slightly lifting away from the top. This is due to the gluing technique used by taylor, not gluing the wings or rear edge of the bridge to create a seamless finish between top and bridge. The price has been adjusted to accommodate a potential bridge reset should the new owner wish to do so.
